The MOBILITY RESEARCH App – a tool for researchers

The generic MOBILITY RESEARCH App will allow researchers to create their own projects in order to record mobility data related to their projects. Researchers can  set-up their own survey questions within their projects.

The App was developed for Android devices and is based on the Open Data Kit (ODK), an open-source mobile data collection software for resource-limited settings. The underlying location technology combines data from multiple sensors, including the mobile phone’s GPS, WiFi and Bluetooth, to compute geolocation readings quickly and accurately. No mobile phone reception is needed, provided GPS recording on the mobile phone is turned on.

All information collected is stored on the phone and can be uploaded to an ODK database when internet access is available. Data can be downloaded by permitted users from anywhere in the world.

Registered users can create new research projects and download the MOBILITY RESEARCH App from here (coming soon).

A help file for the use of the MOBILITY RESEARCH App can be found here (coming soon).
